Calder Capital, LLC is pleased to announce the acquisition of Crystal Valley Catering of Middlebury, Indiana by 3A Moss Co.
Crystal Valley Catering is a mobile catering services business located in Middlebury, Indiana. More specifically, they are a food production, packaging, and distribution service. The Company serves primarily freshly-prepared breakfast and lunch items to large-scale manufacturing companies in northern Indiana, including Elkhart and LaGrange Counties.
Crystal Valley has a long history of growth and food service to manufacturing. Ed and Anne Troyer established the Company in the mid-1960s to serve customers at Jayco RV. Joanna Wilson loaded food onto the back of a pickup truck then. In 1985 Ervin Miller bought the Company from the Troyers. At that point in time, CVC was operating with 3 trucks for deliveries; however, by the time Jay Wilson put a down payment on it in the fall of 1999, the company had expanded to 9 trucks. Mr. Wilson took over CVC on January 1 of 2000 and immediately began implementing changes and improvements that have led to the Company’s present success and status. After 16 years of growing the Company, he is in a good position to pursue other goals and explore other options. He would like to see CVC continue on its growth trajectory, however does not have the energy to do so that he once did. A new owner with the right amount of energy and ambition would be poised for significant growth and success, he believes.
Jay engaged with Calder Capital to market his business, “Calder Capital wasted no time in creating marketing materials and launching the business to market. Within the first few weeks they had several qualified buyers who were very interested in the business. Max sat down with me to help analyze each offer and buyer as a whole and I feel very confident in 3A Moss Co’s ability to manage this Company. Throughout the entire process, Calder was receptive, quick to respond, amicable and a pleasure to work with.”
Regarding the acquisition, Max Friar commented, “Crystal Valley Catering exemplified the business qualities that buyers love, including a great reputation, a recurring customer base, a strong financial position, semi-passive ownership and a cash business. It was a pleasure working with Jay and we are happy to send him into retirement with considerably less weight on is shoulders.”
Calder Capital, LLC served as the exclusive M&A Advisor to Crystal Valley Catering.
