Introducing Steve Wilcox, Calder’s Newest Mergers and Acquisitions Advisor!
Calder Capital, a nationwide mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, is delighted to announce the addition of Steve Wilcox to its team as an M&A advisor serving the greater Lansing and SE Michigan markets.
Originally hailing from Davison, Michigan, Steve now calls East Lansing home. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University where he majored in finance and graduated magna cum laude. Additionally, Steve holds an MBA from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.
Steve brings a diverse background in business and finance, previously serving as Owner and Operator at CoVenture Investment, LLC, where he managed a rental property portfolio and assisted homeowners in avoiding foreclosure and bankruptcy. He also owned and operated CoVenture Funding, LLC, focusing on commercial loan brokerage, and Clear Surplus, LLC, specializing in liquidating business equipment, inventory, and large estates. Beyond entrepreneurship, Steve has held significant roles in finance and project management, including positions at Citizens Bank, an internship at General Motors during his MBA program, Volkswagen of America, Inc., focusing on finance, and a mid-sized mechanical contracting firm, where he was involved in finance, accounting, and project management.
When asked what drew him to Calder Capital, Steve shared, “As a commercial real estate broker, I realized that I could provide more value to business owners by working with an M&A firm. I came across Calder Capital and was impressed by not only Calder’s record of success, outstanding reputation, and glowing testimonials, but also by the excellence of the team, the marketing, the systems, and the culture (values, ethics, etc.). I knew I would be proud to represent the firm.”
When asked about what he looks forward to most in his new role, he commented, “I am looking forward to furthering Calder’s growth in Mid-Michigan and Metro Detroit and helping business owners realize the full value of their company when it comes time to sell.”
Steve's guiding principle is inspired by Louis Pasteur's quote, "Chance favors the prepared mind." This philosophy underscores his belief in the power of readiness and preparation for seizing opportunities.
Steve's drive is fueled by his desire to leverage his expertise for the benefit of others, the satisfaction of closing deals, and his commitment to collaborative achievement. Off the clock, he indulges in travel and photography, finds relaxation in music ranging from classic rock to jazz and classical, and enjoys attending concerts. He likes long walks in the woods and along beaches, cycling around East Lansing and MSU’s campus, and delving into reading about business, finance, and economics, while keeping a keen eye on market trends.
“From the moment I met Steve, I could tell that he was a perceptive person,” stated Calder Managing Director Max Friar. “He was well-prepared and had done a tremendous amount of research about Calder. Steve understood instinctively that if he follows the Calder way, embracing our support and marketing systems, he will be successful. And our team will do everything in our power to ensure his success.”
In his new role as an M&A Advisor at Calder Capital, Steve will be responsible for assisting clients in qualifying and vetting potential buyers, conducting due diligence, structuring deals, and navigating the intricate landscape of M&A transactions in the Lansing and Southeast Michigan areas.
Calder Capital is excited to welcome Steve, and if you’re interested in learning more about him or his professional background, we encourage you to connect with him on LinkedIn.
