Updated March 2020: Due to the mandated stay at home order, the glasswork and finishing touches on Calder’s space have been delayed indefinitely. Here are some updated photos:
Calder Capital is excited to announce that its plans for relocating downtown Grand Rapids are proceeding as planned. The firm’s new office will be located at 25 Division South #225, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 and the firm is expected to move in during the spring of 2020.
In the summer of 2019, Calder owner, Max Friar, closed on the purchase of a 3,385 sqft office condominium, the former Mosaic venue space. Friar stated, “I really liked that the space was an open canvas. Our team really embraced the open floor plan, the bones of an existing bar (which we are revamping) as well as the large and plentiful windows. There is a ton of natural light that pours into the space and we plan to preserve that with the use of lots of glass.”
Friar contracted with Kingscott Architects and Team Restoration to handle the permit drawings and build-out, respectively. “I worked previously with Brian Welsh of Kingscott and Mark Zimmer of Team and I just can’t say enough good things about them,” noted Friar. “They are on time, on budget and are genuine professionals. So far, I have been very pleased with the subcontractors that the Team has hired,” Friar continued. Those subcontractors and suppliers include HighPoint Electrical, Jacobsen Painting, Double O, Inc., ProSource Flooring, SA Morman and Cameo Countertops.
The Calder team is hoping to move in by April but there is still a lot of work to be accomplished. “We’re taking it one day at a time,” stated Friar. “I would rather have all of the pieces in the right place rather than rush things. We are excited about the future and believe that this will be an excellent place for the firm to flourish!”
