Introducing Jared Friar, Calder’s Newest Exit Planning Advisor!
Calder Capital, a nationwide mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, is delighted to announce the addition of Jared Friar to its team as a Exit Planning Advisor.
Jared's career spans over a decade across financial and direct selling sectors, including tenures at US Bank, JPMorgan Chase, and most recently, Amway. At Amway, Jared held roles of Manager of Performance Marketing as well as multiple Lead Analyst positions, driving insights and strategy across a global portfolio. His work has directly contributed to strategic planning, operational efficiencies, and the execution of Amway's growth. Jared excels in driving growth and operational efficiencies, blending critical thinking with creative solutions to drive results.
Jared earned his Bachelor's degree in finance with a minor in economics from Western Michigan University. A native of Grand Rapids, his journey has taken him from the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, where he spent two summers as a camp counselor, to stints living in Denver and Chicago. He moved to Chicago to be with his now wife, Emily, who was also a Grand Rapids native. Eventually, life's journey brought them full circle back to the Grand Rapids area, choosing to settle down to be near family.
Speaking of family, Jared is the brother of Calder’s Managing Partner, Max Friar! Though the family ties are not what inspired him to join the Calder team. When asked what led to him joining, Jared shared, “The opportunity to help build and grow the distressed and turnaround business consulting capabilities of Calder is exceptionally exciting and happens to align well with my professional background.”
“I am looking forward to many things in joining Calder! First and foremost, diving into a new and exciting industry is hugely refreshing and motivating,” he shared regarding what he most looks forward to as a Business Advisor at Calder. “I am passionate about problem-solving and helping others, so I can't think of a better place to be. I will also get to work with so many bright and talented individuals that I can learn from and will continue to push me to grow personally and professionally. This will be a great adventure!”
Jared's guiding principle echoes the words of Nelson Mandela, "I never lose. Either I win, or learn." This mindset fuels Jared's continuous pursuit of excellence and his ability to turn obstacles into stepping stones for success. On a personal level, he is motivated by the desire to provide a wonderful life for his wife of over a decade, Emily, and their children, Miles (7) and Maisie (5). Professionally, He is very genuine about his passion for solving problems and feels rewarded by the opportunity to dig into something, pull it apart, and build a path to sustained success.
Outside of work, Jared enjoys disconnecting and spending time outdoors. He finds relaxation and adventure in fishing and travel, while sports like basketball, golf, baseball, and pickleball keep him active. Additionally, he appreciates music and attending concerts.

In his new role as an M&A Advisor at Calder Capital, Jared will work under John Harrington, Calder’s distressed and turnaround advisor. John has more than 40 years of combined experience in bank management, executive leadership, and turnaround consulting covering a wide spectrum of businesses.
