Calder Capital, LLC is very pleased to announce the successful sale of Muskegon, MI-based Trace Analytical Laboratories, Inc. to Webb Chemical Service Corp.
Trace Analytical Laboratories is an environmental laboratory specializing in water, waste water, soil and air analysis for a variety of governmental, commercial and environmental consulting customers in Michigan and surrounding Midwest states. Co-owners Bill Schroeder and Bruce Pelletier had enjoyed running the business for many years, but at this point desired to enter retirement and see the business thrive under new ambitious ownership. The Company has thrived with a focus on exceptional customer service, which keeps customers returning to Trace, and a strong internal team with low employee turnover. Most employees had been with the business for more than 15 years.
The buyer, Webb Chemical Service Corporation, is a full-service chemical distributor with locations in Muskegon Heights, Michigan and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Webb provides services including, but not limited to, blending, contract packaging and labeling, inventory management, bulk liquid storage, rail terminalization, secured warehousing, safety and technical training and much more. Webb Chemical had originally planned on starting their own internal laboratory, so once ownership became aware of Trace Analytical Laboratories desire to sell, an acquisition made perfect sense.
Regarding the acquisition, Managing Partner, Max Friar stated, “Bill and Bruce were great to work with. While selling their beloved business was not an easy task, they were open to every option we discussed with them. Ultimately, Webb Chemical made a great fit for an acquirer, and the laboratory should be successful for many years to come.”
