Grand Rapids-Based Award Window Cleaning Acquires Blue Sky Window Cleaners

Calder Capital is pleased to announce the successful sale of Blue Sky Window Cleaners, LLC, to Award Window Cleaning Services, Inc.

Mark Reinhart, President & CEO of Award Window Cleaning Services, Inc, headquartered in Grand Rapids, presided over the sale of Grand Rapids-based Blue Sky Window Cleaners, LLC in early May 2016. West Michigan native Nate Wood founded Blue Sky in 2009 and grew the company to multiple crews over the past six years.

Wood decided to sell the business to pursue other business ambitions. “It’s been a great ride and I’ve had a lot of fun building my company,” commented Wood, “but now it’s time to move on. Mark has a great business with an excellent reputation and I’m certain my customers and employees will be treated very well.”.

Mark Reinhart is recognized in the community for his leadership and 25 years presiding over the growth of Award Window Cleaning. He has served on several boards including President of the International Window Cleaners of America and is a member of the Scaffold and Access Industry Association. In an email, he noted that customers of Blue Sky, “…can count on the same high quality work with a positive attitude that (they) have come to expect from Blue Sky.” Nate Wood will continue to guide the company through the transition.

Max Friar, managing partner of Calder Capital noted that there has been an increased level of interest in business acquisitions during the early spring months of 2016. Friar commented, “Many individual and strategic buyers are actively seeking to acquire small service, distribution and manufacturing companies in West Michigan. Lending conditions and the strength of the local economy make this a great time to buy.”

He said the transaction between Award and Blue Sky typifies a trend in the marketplace: established buyers acquiring small businesses where non-retirement age owners are seeking a new path in life.
